Denny heard about Red Cottage by word of mouth this week. He texted me to check it out, and a couple hours later I got around to it. Once I did, I posted it to our Facebook page right away, then wrote them an email to introduce myself. A couple days later, we booked a stay at Wildcat Mountain.

Red Cottage is a vacation rental service that focuses on upstate New York and boy do they have some fantastic options. Many of the homes look straight out of The Selby: beautifully decorated, cathedral ceilings, walk-in showers–the works. On the other end of the spectrum, there’s also cozy, totally unpretentious homes to enjoy the peace and get a taste of “real” country life. Whether you’re looking for an enormous rustic barn with a hot tub, a home that feels like a piece of contemporary art, an ultimate weekend house that sleeps eight, or something that’s just simple and cozy (and inexpensive!), Red Cottage has it.

While the prices may seem steep (and they are, in some cases) make sure to factor in bringing some friends. All of the places sleep at least four, and some go up to ten. We’ll be reporting back on Wildcat Mountain next week!
