When most people think about Cooperstown, NY they think of baseball. And while, yes, it’s home to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum–it’s so much more than that! (Especially for those of us who are kinda ‘meh’ on sports.) Just about four hours from NYC, this little town offers everything from from goat yoga, to a plant-centric cafe, to a world famous brewery. Read on for our list of things to do in Cooperstown that have absolutely nothing to do with baseball.

Top it off with a bite to eat in the café, bar, or on the patio.

Tours and tastings happen daily. Check the Brewery Ommegang website for schedule of tours and tastings, plus special events, including outdoor concerts.

NY Goat Yoga

What is Goat Yoga? Well, it’s just like a regular yoga, with stretching, postures and breathing… except with adorable and friendly goats wandering around. Just try to keep it cool when, in downward dog, a baby goat hops onto your back! Goat Yoga is held at the Gilbersville Farmhouse just outside of Cooperstown, on a farm with 125 acres of field and forest and dramatic views of the Catskill Mountains. Make a weekend of it and stay at their one-of-a-kind glamping village!

Check NY Goat Yoga’s website for schedule, rates, and availability.

The Farmers’ Museum

Step back in time at the Farmers’ Museum, a living history museum that depicts rural life circa 1845. Visitors experience the interplay between trades, village life and agriculture while chores and jobs are carried out. The 19th-century Historic Village is comprised of buildings gathered from rural communities around New York state and painstakingly relocated and restored, piece by piece. The apothecary and blacksmith shops are particularly amazing! New for 2019 is a Brew Exhibit, which highlights the history of New York State brewing, hops, and barley up to the present day.

Admission is $12 for adults, $6 for kids 7-12, and free under 6. Open April through November, hours and day vary; visit the Farmers’ Museum website for more information.
