Howdy and happy Friday,

Fall is well underway in the Catskills, especially in Sullivan County’s Livingston Manor, where I call home. For whatever reason, this area is always a few weeks ahead of the rest of the region, and I can confirm that this year is – as predicted – a spectacular foliage season.

Leaf peepers should head to this part of the Catskills this weekend to see the show, and by pure luck, we’ve got two features below in Eldred, NY to help you plan a trip (or stay forever.)

If you’re heading this way, here’s some highlights from the area:

Other towns in the area include RoscoeLivingston ManorCallicoon, and Narrowsburg. Check those links for EB guides to each.

Next week, be on the lookout for our monthly promos & deals newsletter, unlocking exclusive EB discounts for some great Upstate getaways.

See you out there,

Beaver Brook: Vacation Rental at the Site of Scott’s Cabin, from Cabin Porn

Whether or not you realize it, you may already own a piece of Beaver Brook: it’s the home of Scott’s Cabin, which graces the cover of beloved book Cabin Porn.

What started as a visual collection of cabins on Tumblr, aptly named “Cabin Porn,” eventually manifested into the build of this off-grid, rustic cabin in Barryville, NY. Following completion, the project was photographed by local artist Noah Kalina (we love Noah’s Substack) and used for the cover of this best-selling book. Almost 10 years after its original publishing, Scott’s Cabin remains the picture in our minds at the very mention of “cabin.”

Now, you can rent this magical property.

Nestled in an old-growth pine forest, Beaver Brook is available as a short- or long-term vacation rental, accommodating up to eight guests. Low-key groups and families are welcomed; parties are not. It’s the owners’ wish to provide a peaceful getaway for guests, creating lasting memories in nature.

From the moment of arrival, the sound of rustling trees and the creek envelop the landscape, inviting guests to settle into the quietude of Beaver Brook. The 52 acre property includes:

  • Four-bedroom Bunkhouse, a luxurious, modern retreat;
  • The Beaver Brook, running through the entire property for refreshing dips or fishing;
  • Suspension bridge over a creek to 50 acres of forest;
  • The Treehouse, built into the hillside with massive glass cantilever doors;
  • Wood-fired sauna overlooking the creek;
  • Scott’s Cabin, the iconic cabin featured on the cover of Cabin Porn.

Rent for a weekend, or buy the entire setup at Artist’s Haven in Eldred, NY. Offered for sale, you could potentially rent it for a weekend as an Airbnb stay! Photos by Erin Lindsey/Escape Brooklyn

Less than two hours from New York City, this live-work artist studio in the Upper Delaware River Valley is a private retreat that merges Catskills living with old-school SoHo lofts. Ideal for artists, makers, and craftspeople, this home’s spacious living area is attached to a 1,600-square-foot studio with its own kitchen, bathroom and wood-burning stove.

Inside, the open-concept layout connects the kitchen, dining and living spaces. Flanked by two large windows, a propane stove anchors the living room, visible from all parts of the living and dining areas. A hallway from the main living space connects to the three bedrooms, including the primary with an ensuite.

Beyond the living space, a single door opens into the building’s 1,600-square-foot studio with soaring ceilings and its own fully functional kitchen (with an additional sink for washing brushes and materials), a full bathroom, lofted storage, and a wood-burning stove.

Currently being used as a full-time studio and short-term rental (see its Airbnb listing here), this Catskills getaway is completely turn-key. Surrounded by 3,300 acres of private forest, find creative inspiration in the natural surroundings of the Delaware River Valley and Catskill Mountains.

That’s all for this week – lots of good stuff coming next week!
