If you’re a close follower of Escape Brooklyn, no doubt you’ve scoped one of our most frequent locations: Livingston Manor Fly Fishing Club. But in case you somehow missed it, allow me to set the stage: epic outdoor dinner parties, a creekside sauna, a moonlit tipi, canoe trips, swimming holes, nightly bonfires, and of course, fly fishing.
To celebrate the turning of the seasons, Livingston Manor Fly Fishing Club and Escape Brooklyn are teaming up to host a weekend at the private estate, 115 miles from NYC. Guests can expect all of the activities listed above, plus meals, drinks, and lodging. From October 12 through the 14th, each day will have scheduled activities, though also open times where guests are encouraged to explore on their own. Here’s a loose schedule for all you planners:

Friday, October 12: Guests are welcome to arrive as early as 5 p.m. At 7:30, a welcome cocktail will be served by the river. Your hosts Tom and Anna will share a bit about the club and its mission, but this is also an opportunity to get to know the other folks joining for the weekend. At 8:30, the group departs for a group welcome dinner at nearby pizza joint The Kaatskeller. One flight up from the restaurant, you’ll find a quaint cocktail bar that’s open as long as the conversations are still going.

Saturday, October 13: Wake up whenever you’re ready, but breakfast is served around 9 a.m., Swedish style. Spend the morning doing whatever you want: hiking, canoeing, walk into town, or fly fishing lessons. At 12:30 p.m. the group departs for Wild Roots Farm for to experience a glimpse of true off the grid living. We’ll meet highland cattle, chickens, and tour the genius off-grid cabin hand-built by the owner. We’ll finish off gathered around their wood fired brick oven feasting on on produce from the lands we’ve just been walking. After the tour, we’ll head back to LMFFC for more leisure time. At 6:30, we’ll gather around the tipi to begin LMFFC’s signature event, a feast of fresh mountain trout cooked over the coals, then served on long dining tables overlooking the river.

Sunday, October 14:  Again, breakfast is served around 9:30 a.m. Feel free to spend the morning as you wish—we’d recommend the wood fired sauna, especially for those feeling the effects of the night before, or you could head out for another fly fishinglesson . Just plan on checking out before 1 p.m.
