In recent years, the Hudson Valley has been transforming. As more and more artists, entrepreneurs and other expats burn out on NYC, many set their sights on their neighboring towns to the north. From Hastings-on-Hudson to Poughkeepsie, the Hudson Valley is a promise of more space, easy access to nature, and a slower pace of life. And it’s catching on. Once-sleepy towns like Beacon and Cold Spring are now bustling with tourists and locals alike, many of them commuting by train. At every turn, there’s a new boutique, brewery, bar or restaurant.

Anyone living in the Hudson Valley will tell you how much it’s changed, and most will agree it’s for the better. But as is the case with any area going through rapid growth, there’s a glaring problem: the disappearance of affordable housing. The artists and entrepreneurs, many of whom contribute to the transformation in the first place, are getting priced out.

Enter: West End Lofts in Beacon, NY. Already a flourishing center for creatives, the affordable housing development will be devoted almost entirely to the arts. In fact, 50 of its 72 loft-style apartments will have a preference for those involved in artistic or literary activities – ranging from painters and poets to graphic artists and chefs. The artist units will start at $715.00 per month for a one bedroom and $855.00 for a two bedroom. The-non artists units will start at $1,099.00 per month for a one bedroom and $1,315.00 for a two bedroom.

West End Lofts provides numerous amenities. In Addition to the certification of the building by LEED, other amenities include on-site laundry, on-site superintendent, on-site management office and space for the resident artist to display their art.

There will be no lack of inspiration, either. The lofts offer sweeping views of the Hudson River through eight-foot-high windows, and the 12-foot ceilings ensure the lofts will have abundant natural light. The one-bedroom lofts will include roughly 800 square feet of living space, and the two-bedroom lofts will include about 1,000 square feet of living space.

The appeal of West End Lofts doesn’t end with the affordable price tag. Located at the west end of Beacon’s bustling Main Street, the building is close to downtown Beacon’s numerous restaurants, bars, city and county bus stops; it’s also walking distance to the Metro North Train Station and Dia:Beacon. Lovers of the outdoors will enjoy West End Lofts’ close proximity to parks and hiking.
