Two hours from NYC in Kerhonkson, the enchanting Dawson Farmhouse is located on thirteen private acres in the Catskill Mountains.

Plan the day with your morning coffee in the screened in patio, spend days out (some help on that below), then return to make a grilled feast in the evening on Dawson’s oversize deck. At night, the fire pit is a perfect spot for drinks and s’mores, surrounded by boulders and forest, with a clear line of sight to the stars overhead.

While you’re in town, put these local gems on your itinerary, all within 20 minutes:

  • Hike the Ashokan Quarry Trail, a short 2 mile trail with incredible mountain overlooks;
  • Pitstop at Cherries to indulge in some of the best ice cream on the planet;
  • Visit Westwind Orchard for a farm tour & cider tasting (~$30) then grab a wood-fired pizza from its restaurant;
  • Stock up at Saunderskill Farm, with farm fresh produce, prepped foods, made to order sandwiches, plus a large plant nursery;
  • Walk the Ashokan Reservoir Promenade, beautiful at any time of day , but especially at sunset;
  • Sample local brews at Arrowood Farm, farm brewery and distillery;
  • Dance and skate the night away at Skate Time, a throwback roller rink with roller discos, vintage arcade and café;
  • Make memories with the fam at Kelder’s Farm — perfect for kids with a petting zoo, playground, orchard, and seasonal U-pick fields. (Also home to the world’s largest gnome — who knew, right in our backyard!)
