By |2024-12-03T20:40:49+00:00August 23rd, 2024|BLOG & RECENT STAYS|

This weekend’s weather looks absolutely gorgeous Upstate – very happy about that. It’s also a weekend before a holiday, which means for us Upstaters that our restaurants, bars, swimming holes and hiking trails will be gloriously uncrowded. Many of you will be heading Upstate in the next few weeks. For those who haven’t made plans yet, it’s not too late to make use of an August discount/promo – or wait it out for our September 1 discount/promo newsletter, which looks to be a very good one. As usual, we have some new spots to share, and discounts for all.

Weekend Inspiration (8/16/24)

Erin here, founder and CD at Escape. Writing this week from Mirror Haus II, a *brand new* vacation rental in Windham. It’s nice to be in this neck of the woods again; I was able to visit a few other spots I’d been meaning to check out including Gardenheir, Day June Luncheonette, plus The Henson and its restaurant Matilda. On Wednesday night, I had a great dinner at Babbler’s, and was totally shocked how packed their restaurant was on a Wednesday night (was it the $5 margaritas?) All this will get a proper recap soon.

Casa Magda in Windham, NY

By |2021-09-28T19:53:05+00:00July 26th, 2021|Recent Stays|

Tucked away on nine private mountaintop acres, Casa Magda is the perfect spot for a cool-kids getaway to the Catskill Mountains. Inside the house, minimalist sensibility, mid-century treasures, and a playful collection of vintage furniture coexists to create a fun vibe; at night, the living room transforms into a dance floor, with the help of mood lighting consisting of neon lights, and of course, a disco ball. Use the hand-picked vinyl on hand (or a Sonos amp) for the perfect dance party soundtrack. All four bedrooms are located on the main level, while upstairs a loft has been transformed into an entertainment room and boasts a 100” projection screen. Guests can choose from a curated collection of Blu-Rays and DVDs from comedy to drama, horror to anime—movie night is made complete with a Bose surround sound system. This mountain retreat feels a world away from it all, but it's just 5 minutes into the town of Windham for supply runs, hiking, or winter sports at Windham Mountain. (Note: Windham is open in summer as well; check their website for events or take a skyride to hiking trails.) Further afoot, other nearby adventures include waterfalls, swimming holes, and charming towns throughout the Northern Catskills.

The Windham Earle in Windham, NY

By |2021-05-07T15:47:50+00:00May 28th, 2019||

Named after a Twin Peaks character, the Windham Earle is full of the same kitschy lodge vibes as its namesake. It was recently renovated by a guy in the film industry, so it's no surprise that there are delightful vignettes throughout the home–including the very planty bathroom, or the massive fireplace with a full-size skeleton lounging above it. A literally perfect getaway for big groups, especially in summer, with a bonfire pit, outdoor charcoal BBQ, and a private pond.
